New Definition of an Optimist

Some years back, the definition I read for Optimist was
"Person who starts to take bath, if he accidentally falls in river".

Today came across a new definition for Optimist. (Courtesy : Mr. N.S.Sidhu and NDTV)"A "Person who calls Bull Shit, as fertilizer"

Always Remember Two Things

Got a very useful thought from my college friend Praveen. It is very simple and effective to be followed. Though the first line is often heard and discussed many times, the second line was something very new and interesting.

Don't take any decisions when you are Angry
Don't make any promises when you are Happy

Remember these thoughts for the rest of your lives.

No Time To Love

This post is not about my tight work schedule and having no time to find a girl friend and probably love her. Rather this is about the old Eastman colour film Kadalika Neramillai (no time to love). I have seen this movie first time some 13 years back and since then have watched few more times. Got a chance to see this movie yesterday again in Sun TV, I was still able to enjoy every moment of it. I see this movie as a bold move, with this film introducing two new stars one hero and one heroine of the two hero and heroines (Ravichandran and Kanchana were introduced in this movie). Also this movie is in colour movie, even though colour was not that popular in Tamil industry and even MGR and Sivaji's film was sometimes in black and white. The full length comedy and good songs, made this movie a super hit and enjoyable till date. This movie could also be called as a trend setter for other such full length comedy movies. I am bit sad that these sort of movies are not that frequent these days.

Who Will Win This World Cup?

With Cricket Fever catching up this country and every TV channel , news paper , radio channels, doing analysis of world cup. I am also blogging my thoughts on this. After this I leave all the cricket teams alone to play the world cup. I don't think I could watch any match live. (I cannot simply control my sleep for that longer may be 30 overs maximum)

Who Will Win This 2007 edition of Cricket World cup? Unlike previous world cups, this question is difficult to answer this time. Most of the teams are either in good form by winning or have good star players, who can win matches on their own.

The term "favourites" and "host nation" are not so favourites with the world cup. The team which is termed as favourites have won the cup only thrice (1975,1979 and 2003) and the host nation have won only once (1996 - Sri Lanka was also a host nation, they hosted a few league matches)

Australia : The current world champions, recently lost the No:1 ranking to South Africa. Of late lost six out of seven matches. Still a good team. But for Brett lee and Andrew Symonds injuries, I would have termed Australia as favourites. This time not so balanced side. Bowling looks weak with McGrath the only experienced bowler.Batting still looks solid.Good, but not very good side.

England : Have a few exciting players in their one day team like Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood. But still I don't think they can beat other teams easily.

India : Everything looks fine on paper. Batsman coming to form, bowlers (fast men and spinners) looking good. Only weak link could be fielding. Otherwise they have got a balanced side. India is my favourite to win the team. (both from personal and analysis point of view)

New Zealand : For the first time after 1992 world cup, New Zealand team looks like a balanced side with good batsman, fast bowlers , spinners and fielding. They are of my favourites (analysis point of view) to win the world cup. Shane Bond spell will be their key strength at crucial time.

Pakistan : Like Australia, Injuries to Akthar,Asif and Razzak, is a big blow to the team. I think they may not come to Semi-Finals. But they are always unpredictable.

South Africa : The Number one team at present and running on very good form. Batting, fielding and fast bowling looks exceptionally well. But I think their attack is one-dimensional with no good spinners. They are also world famous chokers. If the tracks are fast and bouncy they might win otherwise, I don't think any chance to win the world cup.

Sri Lanka : Batting and Bowling revolves around few superstars. If the pitches are on the slower side, they have an outside chance to win this world cup.

WestIndies : Batting mainly depends on Top Four, middle order is like a cycle stand, bowling not so great. But knowing local pitches and crowd will be in their favour. They are the dark horse in my analysis.

Sentimental Touch : If Australia lose the match to Zimbabwe, India will win this world cup. (Going by 1983 World Cup).

All the Best to Indian Cricket Team and a Sleep less nights to Indian Cricket Fans.

Blog Roll for my Blog

After nearly sixty five days in to blogging, have almost eleven posts. I would say not that bad with the heavy workload. Would be very happy If I touch fifty two posts by the end of this year. Being a bit free after a long time, figured out, created and added links to my blog roll today.
