Rest

Taken break from work for a week's time, after a long time. Initially planned to go kerala or kodaikanal, but dropped the plans last minute. Been to Vandalur Zoo, along with friends, last saturday. It was a good trip (esp with lion safari). Since then mostly at home, watching a boring cricket match and some "Breaking News" on Television. Going to Microsoft Security Summit tomorrow. Planning to complete the pending books, which I have started reading some time ago, the list includes Robot Dreams, Fantastic Voyage, Monk who Sold his Ferrarai, Beautiful Mind, Restaurant at the end of the Universe and few more tamil books. Also want to complete watching the few films, which I have brought the DVD some time back and still not opened the pack (list includes, sholay, Benhur !)

POC -III, Mozhi

The world is talking about Sivaji and since I have not got a chance to see it. I write about two movies, which I watched after a long gap (After pokiri in Jan) in the last ten days.

POC-III
This is not a proof of concept, but pirates of the Caribbean, at least that is how it was advertised in Bangalore newspapers.Saw it in PVR theatre in Bangalore. I have not watched POC-I, POC-II. So no expectation, so not much disappointment as well. Let me be honest, I could not understand head and tail of the story. May be you need to see Part I and Part II to understand it. But two of my friends (with whom I saw the movie), who have seen the movie earlier as well didn't enjoy that much. The story has too many double triple crossings and very difficult to follow. But I enjoyed three scenes in the movie (The Graphics was a way too good)
a) The ship falling at the world's end,
b) Jack trying to pull the ship in the desert
c) The two ships caught in a storm at the climax.

Mozhi
I would have not watched this movie for another long time, but thanks to my Aunt and her son, who had made a trip from Mumbai.I managed to watch it along with them surprisingly on a weekday. Almost I see no one who has criticized this movie. Yes it is an nearly flawless performance. I see nothing wrong with the movie, a good story, a much better screen play, with very good dialogues.Though I would have preferred to watch it with only one or maximum of two songs. The un-written rule that a movie should have five songs, for both the audio sales and for audience (distributor) happiness(!!). I wish I see these kind of movies come at a regular interval in tamil cinema and becoming a hit as well.

No Time To Love

This post is not about my tight work schedule and having no time to find a girl friend and probably love her. Rather this is about the old Eastman colour film Kadalika Neramillai (no time to love). I have seen this movie first time some 13 years back and since then have watched few more times. Got a chance to see this movie yesterday again in Sun TV, I was still able to enjoy every moment of it. I see this movie as a bold move, with this film introducing two new stars one hero and one heroine of the two hero and heroines (Ravichandran and Kanchana were introduced in this movie). Also this movie is in colour movie, even though colour was not that popular in Tamil industry and even MGR and Sivaji's film was sometimes in black and white. The full length comedy and good songs, made this movie a super hit and enjoyable till date. This movie could also be called as a trend setter for other such full length comedy movies. I am bit sad that these sort of movies are not that frequent these days.

(Vijay) T. Rajendar

No I am not a fan of T. Rajendar, neither do I hate him. I like few of his lyrics and music which he has done in early part of his career. Yes it takes some thing special to do more than one type of work at a time. He has done almost nine different specialized works for his films story, screen play, dialogue, direction, art, music, dance, lyrics, and of course acting

To add to this, he was a editor of a weekly magazine some time back (not sure, if the magazine still comes).Often I used to wonder if he had stick to only lyrics, probably he would have given a tough fight to Vairamuthu. Incase if he would have taken only music as a profession, probably he would be much more successful. When I heard one melody in his new movie Veeraswamy, I think I might be correct. Although he is a bit fat, he dances as good as Simbhu. But still I could not control my laugh, when I see the songs in sound mute mode.
