Pencil and Eraser

Pencil: I'm sorry....
Eraser: For what? You didn't do anything wrong.
Pencil: I'm sorry because you get hurt due to me. Whenever I made a mistake, you're always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself. You get smaller and smaller each time.
Eraser: That's true. But I don't really mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong. Even though one day, I know I'll be gone and you'll replace me with a new one, I'm actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad :)I found this conversation between the pencil and the eraser very inspirational.

Parents are like the eraser whereas their children are the pencil. They're always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes. Sometimes along the way... they get hurt, and become smaller (older, and eventually pass on). Though their children will eventually find someone new (spouse), but parents are still happy with what they do for their children, and will always hate seeing their precious ones worrying, or sad.

Freedom from Hatred

Once a Junior School teacher asked her students to bring some potatoes in a plastic bag to school. Each potato will be given a name of the person whom that child hates. Like this the number of potatoes will be equal to the number of persons they hate. On a decided day the children brought their potatoes well addressed. Some had two, some had three and some had even five potatoes. The teacher said they have to carry these potatoes with them everywhere they go for a week. As the days passed the children started to complain about the spoiled smell that started coming from these potatoes. Also some students who had many potatoes complained that it was very heavy to carry them all around. The children got rid of this assignment after a week when it got over. The teacher asked, “How did you feel in this one week?” The children discussed their problems about the smell and weight. Then the teacher said, “This situation is very similar to what you carry in your heart when you don’t like some people. This hatred makes your heart unhealthy and you carry that hatred in your heart everywhere you go. If you can not bear the smell of spoiled potatoes for a week, imagine the impact of this hatred that you carry through out your life, on your heart?”

MORALE: Our heart is a beautiful garden that needs a regular cleaning of unwanted weeds.

Life is a Gift

There was a blind girl who hated herself just because she’s blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She said that if she could only see the world, she would marry her boyfriend.

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her; she could see everything. Her boyfriend asked her, “now that you can see the world, will you marry me?”The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind too and refused to marry him. Her boyfriend walked away in tears, and later wrote a letter to her saying. “Just take care of my eyes dear.”
This is how human beings change when their status gets enhanced. Only a few remember what life was before, and who’s always been there even in the most painful situations.

Life is A Gift.

Today before you think of saying an unkind word – Think of someone who can’t speak.
Before you complain about the taste of your food – Think of someone who has nothing to eat.
Today before you complain about life – Think of someone who went too early to heaven/hell.
Before you argue about your dirty house – Think of the people who are living in the streets.
Before whining about the distance you drive – Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.
And when you are tired and complain about your job – Think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.
But before you think of pointing a finger or condemning another – Remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker.
And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down – Put a smile on your face and thank — you’re alive and still around.

Life is a gift – Live it, Enjoy it, Celebrate it and Fulfill it.

A Forward from a friend, which I found very Good.

Stagnation

I feel that there is a stagnation with life of late.Monday to Friday office work for nearly 10 Hours. Lazy in the weekend rest one day and some books and TV on other day.Rarely go out for a movie or so.This has been my routine for the past two years. When I was actively involved in wiki, blogs, I might have spend three or weekends outside place for some meetings. I am still learning some thing on the job frequently. It has now sort of become a routing or a boring life. Now how do I make my life more interesting. I should probably try and change the routing for some time. Early to office and Early to home. and see what happens.

My GrandMother

My grandmother passed away earlier this week on 14th July morning . She was in her 90's and been bed ridden for last two months. Though few other deaths have affected me more, this is the one closest which I have seen. It has been peaceful one. I didn't satisfy all her wishes (going to native temple in a remote village, marriage) , but alteast I console myself that I spend last three years along with her during her last period in life and fulfilling few of her other wishes. Remembering the lines long time ago "Death is nothing to us, as long as we exist, death doesn't come, when death comes, we don't exist".

What do you want in life?

After eight years out of college, I am still not sure, what do I want in life? Honestly speaking, I wonder, If I ever tried to answer that question myself all these years. Professional life goes hectic as usual.. my theory that I will finish this project and relax for some time, never really worked. Need to spend time for myself, Blog was a good idea, but very bad execution. This is my second post for the year. Frequent travel, hectic work and add my lack of enthusiasm (read as laziness !!) add to all of these. Let me see, how it goes from here.

Rest

Taken break from work for a week's time, after a long time. Initially planned to go kerala or kodaikanal, but dropped the plans last minute. Been to Vandalur Zoo, along with friends, last saturday. It was a good trip (esp with lion safari). Since then mostly at home, watching a boring cricket match and some "Breaking News" on Television. Going to Microsoft Security Summit tomorrow. Planning to complete the pending books, which I have started reading some time ago, the list includes Robot Dreams, Fantastic Voyage, Monk who Sold his Ferrarai, Beautiful Mind, Restaurant at the end of the Universe and few more tamil books. Also want to complete watching the few films, which I have brought the DVD some time back and still not opened the pack (list includes, sholay, Benhur !)

Improve your Vocabulary and Donate Free Rice

Got this URL from Govar's blog. Food is the most essential for any living creature. With so many of humans still in poverty and doesn't have food all the days, FreeRice, gives an opportunity to improve our vocabulary and also donate free rice to the UN's food program. Playing (Learning) is very easy, for each of the word, there are four choices given on the screen, click on the answer that best defines the word. For each the correct answer we get, free rice donates 10 grains (yes grains, not grams!!) to UN's food program. It is funded through advertisers, their ads appears at the bottom of the screen, which does not disturb us.

Try it out yourself.

Without E-Mails..

Trying to remember when was the last time, that I have not checked mails for four consecutive days. The recent one which I could remember was a trip to bandipur two years back. But It was just for two days. This time when I went to Bangalore for my MBA exams, I could make it possible, not to check emails for four consecutive days. Being a Network Engineer Internet has become both a professional work and personal passion. But some times taking a break from work and to some extent technology will make you think and to certain extent recharge your batteries. I am trying to re-look at the life, the lost moments, adjusting priorities. Let me see how it goes on.
